Our Beautiful Front Door for Spring 2021
Here’s our spring 2021 entryway and all the details with a bonus of my friends entryway updates for you to check out for more inspiration and ideas!
I’m getting a late start on putting together a spring patio this year because of our crazy weather. If you didn’t hear about the winter storm that hit the entire state of Texas, well, it was pretty big news.
Not just big news in Texas, all kinds of crazy news about power outages and water pipes bursting. It was big news outside of our state but we were too busy trying to recover to even notice.
So we had actual snow on the front porch for days and then we had a lot of repairs and clean up to do all over the place.
That means decorating gets moved way down the list of things to do.
I joined up with a few friends and we had a little challenge to improve our entryways and you know that lit a fire!

Spring 2021 Front Door
When I did finally get to my porch it needed a lot of recovery from winter. Mud, dead plants and no decor left it in a sad state.
The first thing to do to improve the looks is to paint our front door.

So you might notice in the reflections a couple of things – the giant dog on the right and the giant dog damage on the left. (Also dead foliage on the left – more freeze damage!)
Since our entire property is fenced our dogs (we have 2 large dogs) come and go through the front and back doors. It’s a really bad habit that we’ve encouraged and the price we pay is that they sometimes scratch on the doors to let us know that they want back inside.
The only upside I have found to this, and I’m not sure that it’s an actual upside, is that I don’t fret about the paint color too much.
Repainting regularly has been a great way to use up the small containers of sample paints that I love to buy. If I don’t love the color, well, I’ll repaint it in a few months anyway!

To the left of our front door I’ve got an old iron table that has a lot of character to it.
It’s super heavy and has some green paint, some white paint and a fair amount of rust. I love it’s rustic look and it’s perfect for outside.
My mom gifted me the mirror that hangs above the table. I don’t have enough wall space inside my house but it had to hang somewhere so it’s on the front porch.
I love this mirror and it’s perfect to have it right where I pass by each time I go in and out.
I like to keep a random collection of items on the table and it sometimes changes seasonally.
The taller candle holders help hide the doorbell. Because I’m not sure why we have a doorbell.
There’s no chance that anyone is coming down my driveway and ringing the doorbell – they have to get past a locked gate and dogs first. So if it’s the person sneaking past all that they’re definitely not going to ring the doorbell.

It didn’t occur to me to move my succulents inside the house until they all appeared to be melted so I’ve got a new collection started for my table. They haven’t really had a chance to fill in yet so I’ve added in some colored moss and sea glass.
I’m really loving this pink moss! It looks so pretty against all of the shades of green.

I haven’t seen a succulent that had this many colors on it before. I don’t know if it’s from the amount of light it’s had or if it will always look this way but it’s so pretty.
I only found one of these and I grabbed it but I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for more.

To the right of the door I’ve added some plants.
I can put just about anything on the porch unless it needs full sun because it stays pretty protected and it has some shade but plenty of light.
I keep some houseplants outside once the weather warms up enough and they do love it out there. The houseplants get switched out pretty regularly according to my mood as well. They move in and out as I clean and move things around inside the house.

These yellow petunias are supposed to bloom all season. We’ll see how that goes.
I’m not usually a yellow person so this will be a big change for me. I generally stick to pink in most of my outdoor flowers because I really like pink. Pink is one of my favorite colors. #pinkismyfavoritecolor
I really like the way the yellow pops on our porch since it’s a bit shady. And it looks really nice against the blue.
I love the look of having a symmetrical display on either side of your door but it just doesn’t happen at our house.
I like it but I guess I can admire it without copying it and I love what we have going on so I’m just going to stick with the different for now.
I mean, I can always change it!

So I added a yellow wreath to the front door for a pretty accent.
Maybe yellow will become my new accent color. Or maybe I will change it back to pink.
Stay tuned.

So here’s another new thing that I haven’t done before that everyone else is doing.
The layered rugs.
At first I wondered why you’d want to layer rugs outside because in my mind it was more to try and keep organized. But I was so wrong.
The rug underneath actually keeps the top rug in its spot better than it was before. Who knew?
Well apparently everyone knew except me….
Anyway, I will definitely be looking for some new fun rugs to use under my welcome rug so that I can switch them out seasonally.
Can you believe that it took me all the way to spring 2021 to actually try this?
The Front Door Reveal for Spring 2021

So this is what the wide shot looks like now that we’ve got her all ready for spring. A nice freshly painted door with a wreath and some brightly colored flowers.
Of course Texas is trying to skip spring all together and just head straight into summer so we might be changing it up fairly soon, but may be not.
You’ll have to stay tuned to find out!

I adore your beautiful blue and green entry!!! I have 2 large dogs as well so I know how damaging they can be…good think I love them;)
I think your painted door sets the stage!!! Love it:)
Your porch looks amazing. The colours are stunning. I’m a pink girl but I think I’d stay with the yellow as it goes so well with the teal.
Thank you so much Carol! I’m usually a pink girl as well but I tried the yellow and it sure does pop so I may be a convert – at least for this season!
