The Best Keto Snack Ideas that you can Eat Now!
Snacks that Won’t Kick You Out of Ketosis
One of the upsides of the Ketogenic diet is that you’re rarely hungry. Since you are consuming so much fat you rarely have hunger pangs.
Many times if I think I’m hungry, I am really thirsty.
I am a snacker at heart though. I have always been more of a grazer than a meal type person so I like to have a variety of quick snack foods on hand to satisfy my cravings.
The ideal snack on a ketogenic diet is high in fat, a moderate amount of protein, low carb and quick.
Lucky for me there’s an endless list of keto snack ideas. I have to be sure to track these or I end up consuming a lot more calories than I might need.
No-Prep Keto Snack Ideas
This first section is keto snacks that you can easily grab and go. You might pick these up at the grocery store and then you can grab them from the fridge or pantry and you’re good to go.
The best thing is these are easy snacks to keep on hand and don’t require a ton of planning.
Well, other than making sure they’re on your grocery list!
Beef Jerky
Beef Jerky is a great keto snack. It’s high in protein and low in carbs, but be sure to check the label to watch out for added sugars. Look for a brand that’s no or low carb.
String Cheese
String cheese is one of my favorite snacks. It has the advantage of being salty so it can fill in my salt craving. Be sure to check the nutritional information. You definitely want to go with the high fat version and no added fillers.

Nuts
Nuts are a huge category and can vary wildly in their nutritional benefits.
Macadamia nuts and almonds are among the top choices but you definitely have to watch your intake. I can eat through macadamia’s in no time so I have to divide up my servings into containers. It’s also a great way to save money on them since they can be pretty pricey.
One cup of macadamia nuts have 102 grams of fat, 11 grams of protein and 7 grams of net carbs.
One cup of almonds has 45 grams of fat, 20 grams of protein and 9 grams of net carbs.

Avocado
Avocado is one of my favorite snacks. Cut it in half, a dash of salt and a spoon. Yum. You can add a bit of lime juice if you like. Avocado is full of healthy fats and a great snack!
Pork Rinds
Pork rinds are so high in fat and low in protein, that they are pretty much the perfect keto snack! These are one of the best things to get a crunch if you’re missing that in your diet. I’ve also seen recipes that use them as a chip to layer on like nachos.
Watch your consumption on these. They are low carb but they’re also generally fried in hydrogenated oils. (ick)

Iced Coffee
One of my favorite snacks in the afternoon. Coffee over ice. Yep, that’s it. Delicious.
Or hot coffee. I definitely don’t want ice in the winter!
Olives and Pickles
You can find olives at many grocery stores in the salad bar or deli sections. This makes it easy to just purchase a serving of them. These are a good salty and fatty snack. Be sure to check that the only extra ingredient is olive oil!
Sugar Free Jello
This is a keto friendly snack but it really has very little nutritional value, and it it highly processed so I would keep it at the bottom of my snack list.
Cream Cheese
Limit your serving size but it’s great for satisfying a craving. It’s also delicious to spread on chips, meats, veggies, etc. It’s a great topping and you can add so many seasonings to it.
Kale Chips
Just buy these at the grocery store and your snack is ready to go!
Proscuitto
Proscuitto is one of my favorite keto snacks! Well it’s actually one of my favorite foods. The average slice has 16 grams of fat for less than1 gram of net carbs.
Butter
Butter is a great fat bomb all by itself. If you’ve got a great butter then don’t be afraid to slice some off and eat it like a slice of cheese. Or add it to your coffee.
Salami
Another great low carb snack. It can be high in sodium so it’s another food that you’ll want to keep an eye on the nutrition info. Starbucks has a great protein snack that features Italian Sausage and Manchego cheese. Oh my, how can I pass up my favorite drink along with my favorite snack?
Celery Sticks or Cucumber Slices
Great veggie choices for a snack. And you can add cream cheese to either of these!
Berries
You can’t eat too many berries because they are high in sugar, but a handful of raspberries or blackberries are your best choices. You can also choose strawberries or blueberries to satisfy your sweet tooth!
Take this one step further and make this into a sweet dessert by adding whipped cream. Now, you’ll have to make it yourself since you don’t want any sweetener, just get some heavy whipping cream and whip it up! From snack to dessert.
Keto Bars
Like many of the other snacks you have to read the labels on these and know what you’re looking for. While they may be low carb, they may also contain different sweeteners in them that can cause a blood sugar spike.
Prep Ahead Keto Snack Ideas
The items on this list might take a moment to prepare or you’ll want to prep them in advance and have them ready to grab and go.
By no means are any of these tough, they just take a few more minutes, but here are a few prep ahead keto snack ideas.
Hard Boiled Eggs
A classic keto snack. The hard-boiled egg can be made ahead of time and then stored in the fridge.

Deviled Eggs
Once you’ve made hard boiled eggs you’re just a few steps away from deviled eggs. There are numerous recipes for these but how can you resist bacon and cheddar? Check these out from That Low Carb Life.
Bacon
Bacon is the best! It can be used for a snack, a meal, a topping, a wrap. I mean really, what can’t you do with bacon?
For snacking purposes you’re going to want to prepare it ahead of time!
Cheese Crisps
Cheese crisps are basically melted cheese yummies. Grate cheese or cut into thin slices, layer on baking sheet and bake in oven until melted and bubbly. Don’t overcook these, they can turn bitter if you do.
You’ll want to experiment with different kinds of cheeses and combinations. Parmesan makes a delicious cracker, and it goes well with many different kinds of dips.
Fat Bombs
Fat bombs are snacks that you prep ahead of time that are high in fat. Many of these include only 3 ingredients and there are multiple combinations. Like all keto snacks they are high in fat.
Try a base of butter, coconut butter or almond butter. Add a seasoning: cocoa or pumpkin pie spice, form a ball and roll it in crushed nuts.
Tuna
You can buy tuna in a pouch, add some seasoning and a bit of lemon juice and you’ve got a great snack that’s high in protein and low in carbs.
Egg Muffins
Mix up your omelette and cook it in a muffin tin. Then you have little grab and go egg muffins. Or really, just eggs. An easy snack or breakfast to eat on the run.
Leftovers
Don’t discount your leftovers as a great snack for the next day. When I cook I always make extra, especially if we’re going to light the grill. We generally grill at least 2-3 nights per week and that gives me the opportunity to throw a few extra “snacks” on to cook while dinner is in process. Two birds, one stone.
Ham and Cheese roll ups
So take a slice of ham, put a slice of cheese on it and roll it up. Yep, it’s that easy.
Or take a slice of ham and spread cream cheese on it. Roll it Up.
You can add olives or spices to this and make it into a keto friendly lunch instead of a snack!
