Week 4 – One Room Challenge
This week is week 4 and we made progress in our One Room Challenge so yay for that! We are still a full week behind where we’d like to be but things are starting to come together so there is hope that we’ll cross the finish line in time!
This week the new tub and tile was installed and grouted. That might sound like a small(ish) job but it involved removing all the old tub and tile and part of the floor, rerouting plumbing for a larger tub. Then removing drywall to be able to install the new tub.
Installing the new tub was an exercise in patience. It fit snugly in its new spot and getting it into the small room and even smaller space was an adventure of smashed fingers.

We decided on a basket weave pattern for the tile and a lighter gray grout. I didn’t want to go with white since I wanted some contrast in the tub, but I also didn’t want it to be too dark. I wanted contrast so you’d see the pattern, but not so much contrast that it would draw your eye immediately to it.
The shower niche took a lot longer than I expected because I marked the tiles all wrong to begin with. The edges of it have a cove so that they will make a nice picture frame and in my head I laid them out as a picture frame to start with.

So each of those piece got cut twice, which left us with half as much tile. Which we had plenty of thankfully. So that was one less emergency trip to the home improvement store.
The color turned out perfectly!
Bonus for this week – the ceiling got painted white and it’s finished too!
